Become a Foster Parent

Like many counties, Jefferson County is in need of licensed foster homes to serve the growing number of children that are coming into care each day. The case managers and courts often struggle to find a home for them and it’s increasingly becoming even more difficult to keep sibling groups together.
Oftentimes, the children and their siblings are the only support system they know and it’s difficult to watch their hearts break as they’re placed in separate foster homes, often in different towns and school, because there’s just not enough foster homes available to be able to keep them together.
Have you ever thought about becoming a foster parent? You likely have a lot of questions, and you should; it’s not an easy decision to make or a decision that should be considered lightly. Being a foster parent is not going to make you rich with money, but will make you rich with love, both given and received!
The job of being a foster parent is hard, it’s emotional, and there may be many tears, but there will also be many laughs and much love received by the children you foster, hearing many ‘I love yous,’ and experience many many wonderful memories with them.
Being a foster parent is more emotionally gratifying than you can imagine and it will have a lifelong effect on you and your family. It’s not a job for the faint of heart, but your heart will be greatly rewarded.
